BEIJING, January  21 (TMTPOST)— Tencent Music Entertainment (NYSE: TME) announced internally on Thursday that it will make organizational adjustments to QQ Music and the company’s fundamental structure, financial media Jiemian reported.
There will be changes to the management team as well, the company said.
The majority of the middle management team is aware of details of the organizational changes, Jiemian reported, quoting a source with direct knowledge of the matter. Details of the upcoming reorganization will be announced at QQ Music’s annual meeting.
Ji Mingzhong will be promoted to the general manager of the group and oversees QQ Music’s community products. In addition, Ji will also start serving as the general manager of the interactive video product unit, answering directly to the CEO Liang Zhu.
Ji has been serving as the director of QQ Music’s karaoke product WeSing. He was in the team that spearheaded WeSing. Ji currently oversees the interactive video product unit, tasked with the mission to integrate the resources from QQ Music’s livestream and WeSing. Tencent Music Entertainment’s virtual music carnival event TEM Land was convened by Ji’s team.
Fu Hongcheng will be promoted to general manager of the group as well. Fu will serve as the general manager of Tencent Music Entertainment’s fundamental structure unit and QQ Music’s platform product unit, answering directly to the CEO Liang Zhu.
Fu helped build Tencent Music Entertainment’s in-house research and development system from scratch. He was involved in the development of the music library, music recommendation algorithm, search, product security and technical operation.
“Fu wasn’t well recognized at the company before. After the adjustment last year, he had helped improve QQ Music’s recommendation function a lot. There are also many other technical improvements on QQ Music,” a source told Jiemian.
Liang Yunheng will be promoted to the general manager of the group as well. Liang will serve as the general manager of Tencent Music Entertainment’s Corporate Development unit, offline chart unit and data product center.  Liang will directly answer to the company’s board chair Peng Jiaxin.
Tencent Music Entertainment develops music streaming services for the Chinese market. Tencent Music's apps include QQ Music, Kugou, Kuwo, and WeSing, boasting more than 800 million active users and 120 million paying subscribers.
