A. Preparation
1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
2. Wear an antistatic wrist strap if available.
3. Remove the paper tray from the printer.
4. Open the top cover of the printer.
5. Locate the ink cartridge holder and remove the EPSON 801 ink cartridge from it.
B. Cleaning
1. Wipe the print head contacts with a lint-free cloth dampened in warm water.
2. Clean the contact on the ink cartridge with an eraser.
3. Clean the contact on the cartridge holder with an eraser.
C. Resetting the Printer
1. Plug the power cable back into the printer.
2. Press and hold the “Power” button until the power light indicator blinks 4 times.
3. Release the “Power” button and wait for the printer to finish resetting itself.
D. Reinstalling the Ink Cartridge
1. Lift the printer cover and re-insert the EPSON 801 ink cartridge.
2. Reinstall the paper tray.
3. Close the cover and press the “Power” button to turn the printer on.
4. Check the printer’s ink level to make sure it has been reset correctly.

1. Print a test page to ensure the printer is working correctly.
2. If the test page has any streaks or is not of a high quality, repeat the resetting and cleaning steps again.
F. Maintenance
1. Regularly clean the contact print heads to keep the printer running smoothly.
2. Check the ink levels of the cartridges and replace when low to maintain optimal printing quality.
