Canon waste ink reset
Canon inkjet printers use a device called an ink absorber to absorb any ink that is not used during printing. Over time, the absorber can become filled, causing the printer to display a “waste ink full” message. If this happens, the printer will need to be reset in order for it to continue working properly.
The first step to resetting a Canon inkjet printer is to turn off the printer, unplug the power cable, and open the printer door. You will then need to press and hold the Stop/Reset button on the printer while plugging the power cable back in. After a few seconds, the printer should start up normally.
Next, turn off the printer, unplug the power cable, and open the printer door again. You will then need to locate the small pinhole reset switch on the side or back of the printer. Use a paper clip to press the switch, then plug the power cable back in. After a few seconds, the printer should start up normally.
Once the printer is reset, you will need to clean the ink absorber and reset the waste ink counter. To clean the absorber, you will need to locate the ink absorber pad in the printer and remove it. The absorber will look like a sponge, and it should be saturated with ink. Place the absorber in a bowl of warm, soapy water and allow it to soak for several hours. Once the absorber has been cleaned, reinstall it into the printer and reset the waste ink counter.
Finally, to reset the waste ink counter, you will need to open the Canon service mode. To do this, turn off your printer, unplug the power cable, and open the printer door. On the printer control panel, press and hold the Power button and the Resume/Cancel button at the same time. After a few seconds, the service mode will appear on the screen.

Once the counter has been reset, turn off the printer and unplug the power cable. After a few minutes, plug the power cable back in and turn on the printer. The waste ink counter will now be reset and the printer should work correctly.
