BEIJING, January 18 (TMTPOST) — New Horizon Health (HKG: 6606) rolled out its helicobacter pylori test kit on Tuesday, which is China’s first test kit product for detecting helicobacter pylori.
The test kit is now available for purchase on major Chinese e-commerce platforms and pharmacy sites, such as JD.com, iKang, Meituan, Tmall and Ping An Health. New Horizon Health’s helicobacter pylori test kits are only sold in mainland China.
New Horizon Health’s helicobacter pylori test kits allow consumers to test for helicobacter pylori without the help of medical professionals. According to New Horizon Health, it only takes 10 minutes to get the test result.
The company received the regulatory certificate for its helicobacter pylori test kit from the National Medical Products Administration of China on January 6. The test kit is a stool test, which lets consumers collect samples and test for helicobacter pylori antigen.
The test kits are currently priced at 139 yuan on all e-commerce platforms with a 10-yuan subsidy. The price will resume at 149 yuan on January 21 2022.
1000 helicobacter pylori test kits were sold in one minute on Tmall.
Founded in 2015, New Horizon Health is an Hangzhou-based medical testing company that focuses on cancer screening technology and tests. It went public in Hong Kong in February 2021.
In China, 64.6% of households have at least one family member is infected with helicobacter pylori, a bacteria known for causing cancer. It is the only known microorganism that can survive in human stomach. World Health Organization’s reports show that around 50% of gastric cancer cases are connected with helicobacter pylori.
One in every two people in China has helicobacter pylori, statistics show. The infection rate of helicobacter pylori in China is around 50%, according to the 5th National Report of Helicobacter Pylori.
Helicobacter pylori is the major cause of gastric carcinogenesis. It may be passed from person to person through direct contact with saliva, vomit or fecal matter. Helicobacter pylori may also be spread through contaminated food or water.
