BEIJING, December 16 (TMTPOST)— OPPO is expected to be the first smartphone vendor in the world that embraces 5G chips with more advanced manufacturing nodes.
Smartphones empowered by MediaTek’s latest chipset Dimensity 9000 would go on sale in the first quarter of 2022 and OPPO’s next generation of Find X flagship would be first equipped with the 4nm chip, said the general manager Chen Guanzhou on Thursday. At that day’s event, the Taiwan-based chipmaker officially launched Dimensity 9000 5G smartphone chip for next-generation flagship smartphones, which are poised to be the world’s first smartphone built on the ultra-efficient TMSC N4 (4nm-class) production process.

As MediaTek’s most powerful and energy-efficient chip to date, Dimensity 9000 integrates the cutting-edge octa-core Armv9 CPU architecture and the company’s fifth generation APU, which offers 4 times power efficiency gains compared to the previous generation APU, and packs the world's first Arm Mali-G710 MC10 GPU in a smartphone chip. It also comes with MediaTek's HyperEngine 5.0, the latest generation of gaming technology that uses AI-acceleration to optimize graphics and reduce the GPU load so as to deliver faster and more power-efficient gameplay.
“OPPO has long maintained a close relationship with MediaTek," said Henry Duan, Vice President at OPPO. "I am excited to share that the next Find X flagship will be the first to be launched with the Dimensity 9000 flagship platform. This is a premium device that brings together so many cutting-edge features in one device and we know users will be impressed with its breakthrough performance and outstanding energy efficiency."
Other leading smarphone brands including vivo, Honor and Xiaomi’s sub brand Redmi have expressed their endorsements and are expected to adopt the chip to their new products.
With the first 4nm chipset for mobile, MediaTek, the chip supplier mainly targets the medium and low-priced 5G devices, has secured a key chip to challenge high-end Snapdragon processors from its old rival Qualcomm.
