BEIJING, May 30 (TMTPOST) — Shanghai said on Monday that it would lift movement restrictions on residential communities, resume the operation of public transportation and lift curbs on vehicles on the road.
Shanghai’s Covid-19 response leadership group said that the pandemic in the city has been curbed effectively and the situation continues to improve. Starting from June 1, 2022, Shanghai will gradually allow free entry into and exit from residential communities, resume the operation of public transportations and lift curbs on vehicles.

The city’s ground public transportation and railroad network have resumed operation. Ferry services are gradually resuming.
Vehicles will be allowed to get back to the road without a permit. Taxi service and online mobility service will resume normal operation. Passenger cars are allowed to move around freely in the city except in areas of mid of high Covid-19 risks, lockdown or restricted areas.
Shanghai’s authorities urge the residents to continue to wear a mask, keep the social distance and regularly test for Covid-19 to help curb the pandemic.
Shanghai is also returning to normal business activities. From June 1, businesses will no longer need so-called "white list" approval to have employees working on site. However, those wishing to get to work will still be required to present a negative Covid test 72 hours before taking public transportation.
Shanghai has been under some form of lockdown since late March, leaving tens of millions of people confined at home and halting business operations. Many industries have been negatively impacted due to the disruption of supply chain caused by the lockdown in Shanghai.
